When a message, collection order or paylink becomes paid, the portal also marks the other messages, collection orders and links that belong to it as paid. There are two ways: based on the payment reference and based on the invoice. POM turns them on or off for each client.
1. Based on the payment reference
Messages, collection orders and paylinks with exactly the same payment reference are linked to each other.
- When one of them becomes paid, all linked objects also get the status paid.
- This also happens when the amounts are different. For example, if a later message adds administration costs, both the earlier and the later message become paid.
- POM can turn this off for your client.
2. Based on the invoice
This way does not look at the payment reference, but at the invoice lines.
- When a collection order becomes paid, the portal looks for other collection orders with the same invoice, even if they have a different payment reference.
- That invoice line becomes paid there too.
- This way is off by default. POM can turn it on for your client.
Example: a customer has three invoices, each with its own flow. Later they are bundled into one reminder with three invoice lines and a new payment reference. If the customer then pays one of the original invoices, that one invoice line in the reminder becomes paid.
Good to know
- Do you want to turn one of them on or off? Contact POM. See Help and support.
- A payment you record yourself with Mark as paid is passed on in the same way. See Marking a message as paid.
- With merged collection orders, the portal keeps the merged collection order and the original collection orders in sync separately. See Merging collection orders.
