You deliver customers and outstanding items through the API, an integration with your accounting package, POM Connect or, soon, a manual upload. With your own IT team, choose the API. If your system cannot call an API, POM Connect handles the delivery for you.
The options side by side
| Option | For whom | Who builds it |
|---|---|---|
| API | Organisations with their own IT team or integration partner | You, with the API documentation |
| Accounting integration | Organisations with an online accounting package | POM; you log in to your package once |
| POM Connect | Organisations whose system cannot call an API | POM sets up the integration for you (purchased separately) |
| Manual upload | Anyone who delivers a list now and then | Nobody; you upload it yourself in the portal. Still marked Coming soon |
Not sure? Ask POM for advice. The choice depends on your system, how often you deliver and who maintains the integration.
Through the API: create or synchronise
If you choose the API, there are two ways to get collection orders into the portal.
| Your system... | Use | Why |
|---|---|---|
| knows when an invoice goes into collection and keeps track of what changes | Create a collection order (POST /v3/collection_orders) and then pass on payments and changes |
You stay in control: you create a collection order once and pass on each change directly. |
| only knows a list of outstanding items | Synchronise (POST /v3/collection_orders/sync) |
You keep sending the current state; the portal works out what is new, changed or paid. Little to build on your side. |
Synchronising works with separate customer data: you create the customer once and then only send the outstanding items. See Synchronising outstanding items through the API.
What else can you do through the API?

| Passing on payments and credit notes | Passing on payments through the API |
